I’ve been tagged by happygrub- she has passed onto me the “5-things-about myself” tag in her recent entry . So, guess I have to honour her tag and go on writing 5 things you may not know about me- I’m not really sure who all my (avid) readers are so perhaps those close ones will probably not find any of this new, nevertheless, a change from just seeing my cards and very few words.
Well, it was never meant to be a blog-journal so if you ever expected to read juicy news about me (not that there are any anyway), tough luck.
But seeing how consistent I’ve been in updating my blog, I shall give you a little treaty insight about myself. Speaking of blogs, melscanvas will be turning 1 end of this month!
1. You’re IT!
The first mention of ‘tag’ on happygrub’s recent post, somehow brought me back to my childhood days, where school recesses were spent running around playing tag with my multinational friends on sandy playgrounds. I spent my first 7 years of school life in Jakarta International School (JIS); my dad was relocated to Jakarta and brought the whole family over. At that time Indonesia was still very peaceful; we were blessed with a comfortable lifestyle. Since I was only 6 when we moved there, moving to a new country was no different to me, nor culture shock, instead I grew accustomed easily. My school days in JIS will be remembered for as long as I live. Learning was not mere studying, learning was fun and enriching. All sorts of activities and games were incorporated in our learning process, so much so that I would never want to miss school. Going back to running around playing tag, I remember how I enjoyed our tag games- I was considered one of the fastest runners and my friends would always get scared when I’m IT and have to run and tag the next victim! The boys would always choose me first in their teams, when we had to split up into groups during PE sessions, knowing that I could run fast. Those were the days when running around merrily was second nature…ask me to jog around the neighbourhood now, and I’d walk instead.
2. Say it with words.
I’ve always had this dream of becoming an author. When I was a small girl I made a few books of my own, well of course at that time I they seemed like books, but they were mere pieces of paper stapled together with my stories and some even came with (very poor!) illustrations. I remembered my first book was about a dog called Spot (don’t ask why, but I know it was influenced by the numerous Spot the Dog pop-out books I would borrow from my school library); I don’t quite remember what it was about but the pictures I drew I can still vividly remember (i think it was more of a picture book than a story book). I’ve always enjoyed reading since at a very young age- I still have all my Judy Blume and Enid Blyton books!
3. 8 Times
I’ve been a bridesmaid 8 times to date, and no, I’m not gonna beat Katherine Heigl’s record of 27 in “27 Dresses”. Yes, it is a tiring task, but a fulfilling and heartwarming one. Despite the running around in heals, multi-tasking acts I had to juggle (even being mistaken as the mak andam) and squeezing through the crowd to fulfill the bride’s request, at the end of the day as exhausted as I am, I can proudly say that I was part of my best friends’ big day. A friend once suggested that I should write a book about my bridesmaid experiences…Hmmmm…i just may…
4. If I could, I’d be a bird.
Given a wish to be an animal of my choice, I’d be a bird. I would soar through the sky and fly around the world. I’d visit the Pyramids in Egypt, fly above the Swiss Alps, take a peek at the Grand Canyon and if I fly over the Scottish waters often enough, perhaps I may be lucky to sight the Lochness even!
5. My weakness…
Stationery! Ever since I was young, I’ve always loved visitng stationery shops and look at the nice papers, pens and pretty little notebooks. Till today, I get lost in my own world when I look at stationeries; I’d buy notebooks with gorgeous covers and end up just keeping them, can’t bare to dirty the pages! It is with little wonder how I caught up I am with card making now… So there is always an excuse now when buying pretty papers and more sophisticated stationery (like cutting tools) all the time.

Love the pattern on those thank you cards! Lucky we were too old to play tag when we first met, I wouldn’t want u to be IT!
